Finance is the ‘common language’ of business. However, we often find that we need an interpreter to make sense of the figures and break through the language.
These business skills events are designed to break this language barrier. The Programme Directors have extensive experience of working in senior finance, general management and management consultancy roles across a range of business sectors, public and commercial, with multi-national organisations.
The coverage provides a practical guide-book to successful financial management, delivered with a stimulating momentum of learning.
By the very nature of finance the programmes can be challenging – however, throughout these sessions the learning is also highly enjoyable!
Three days - Directors / Business Owners / Senior Executives
This event has been developed to focus on the primary challenges facing businesses seeking to ensure financial stability and pursue on-going success in todays turbulent and intensely competitive commercial climate
The three days balance financial management theory, research evidence and practical analysis of business situations. The goal is to equip senior managers to identify and initiate financial performance improvement measures. To this end all participants will be encouraged to consider their own organisation and, using the approaches and tools provided, identify the strengths which exist and target the areas for improvements that are priorities for action.
Five days - Business Unit Managers / Sales Professionals
This ‘deep dive’ workshop is designed to equip functional, business unit and sales managers to interpret and take action based on financial and related operational information.
The programme balances the input of financial management concepts, research evidence from successful organisations, and the practical analysis of real-life business situations. The event is run in a highly participative workshop style where the concepts and techniques introduced are directly applied to a mix of live corporates drawn from different business sectors plus simulated business situations. Participants are expected to directly apply their new insights within their own organisation to improve performance.
Two, one day modules - Primary insights for personal and business effectiveness
This two step programme is designed to help participants to overcome the ‘fear factor’ often associated with financial concepts and ‘jargon’.
Step One - This first module is particularly focused to help the individual to be proactive in sourcing, prioritising and interpreting the financial data that they use. It will help each participant to understand and interpret corporate / published financial reports as a basis to gain greater business insight.
Step Two - This second module is focused to help participants to develop a clearer understanding of the core principles of price setting, cost control and profit margin management. It will help each participant to more confidently interpret financial data and related information to assess ‘business unit’ and product / service performance.
